Hunter Middleton

👋 Hi, I'm Hunter,

And this is my digital garden.

I'm an engineer who DJs and writes every now and then. I'm deeply involved in Missouri's music community, where I play music and often embark on software engineering ventures to better the community.

In this garden, I farm. My musings — notes, raw thoughts and opinions — are my seeds. Over time, as my understanding grows, so do these seeds, flourishing into seedlings and then plants. My digital garden reflects this as my words become more nuanced.

I'm adopting the digital garden approach, as explained by Will Stedden here. This method helps me frame my writing as a work-in-progress and removes the pressure of perfection.

I code at school. I also code for fun.

Coding isn't just something I do for the sake of it; it's my passion. My girlfriend thinks I work too much because it's hard to tell whether I'm coding for work, school, or a side project.

I love to create projects that benefit my friends or my communities.

With that said, here are two of my projects....

  • Halftone Store
Created a storefront for the Halftone brand's retail arm, utilizing Hydrogen React and Shopify to create an engaging and dynamic online shopping experience while employing search engine optimization tactics.
  • Halftone Ticketing System
Developed a robust and scalable ticketing system utilizing React.js, Node.js, Supabase and PostgreSQL. Successfully deployed at events with over 200 attendees, the system handled data in real-time and provided a seamless user experience.

Writing

My writing experience stems from academics. Writing has always been a part of my life, whether I had to write essays for classes or formulate arguments for speech and debate tournaments.

To me, writing is a way to gain knowledge. I think it's one of the best ways to learn, whether it's taking notes or just jotting down ideas.

What I post here may not be the most polished pieces. It isn't formal writing, it's my personal space to farm my thoughts and ideas. This garden is primarily for me, but I'm more than happy for you to pop by, and I hope you find it enjoyable too.
